Balance & fall prevention

A fall is a warning, not a verdict

Most falls don't happen because of age — they happen because strength, reaction speed, and confidence quietly eroded while nobody was measuring them. All three are trainable.

After a fall, the real danger is fear

The injury heals. What often doesn't is the confidence. People start moving less "to be safe" — and moving less is exactly what makes the next fall more likely. This spiral is the single most common pattern we see, and breaking it early matters more than any single exercise.

What actually prevents falls

Where to start today

Test, don't guess: time five sit-to-stands, and time a comfortable 10-foot walk. Write the numbers down. Retest in two weeks of daily practice. The Recovery Journal below has the tracking pages built in — watching your own numbers move is the best motivation there is.

Adult children: if you're reading this for a parent, the home-audit and tracking pages work well as something you do together on a visit.
